The Denver Nuggets have landed the first major trade of the NBA season, acquiring Chauncey Billups, Antonio McDyess and Cheikh Samb from the Detroit Pistons in exchange for Allen Iverson. While Iverson is a phenomenal basketball player, matching him with Carmelo Anthony, while fun to watch, was not turning out the way many Nuggets ticket holder were hoping. The trade gives the Nuggets an elite ball handler who has shown he can shine in the big moments.

Billups of course was instrumental in the Pistons winning the NBA championship in 2004, being named the Final's Most Valuable Player. It seems he is happy to be coming home. "My family and I are excited to be going back home," said Billups. "As a kid growing up in Denver, I always dreamed of winning a championship with the Nuggets. Hopefully, we can make that dream a reality."

Nuggets ticket holders are hoping that Denver native Chauncey Billups will be a better compliment to Anthony. "He's a scorer's dream," said Anthony, who was on Team USA's Olympic qualifying team in 2007 along with Billups. "We're going to make it work to the best of our ability," he said.

At the same time he won't soon forget about Iverson. "I had a great time playing with (Iverson)," Anthony said. "He's going to always be one of the best teammates that I ever played with. He's always going to be my friend. . . . I don't think I will ever have another experience like I did playing with A.I."

Anthony and Iverson were the highest scoring duo in the league, averaging a combined 52.1 points per game. The duo also helped the Nuggets score 168 points in one game in March of 2008. This holds the record for the third highest points total in an NBA game.
